The boot camp “Students, EU enlargement policy and EU integration – the good, the bad, and the active” aims to provide the students with an intensive learning experience and give them a comprehensive understanding of key aspects related to EU enlargement policy, EU integration, the use of digital resources in learning and researching EU law, the promotion of active youth participation in EU politics and the broader process of EU integration. Through a series of interactive workshops, students will explore EU enlargement policy, the intricacies of integration, digital tools for legal research, youth-oriented initiatives, and practical engagement in the EU integration process.
The Boot camp is organized within the project “Preparing for EU Accession: The Future of the Western Balkan Countries” implemented by the Europa Institut, University of Saarland (Germany), and the Faculties of Law, members of the SEELS Network. The project is funded by the the Higher Education Dialogue Programme of the DAAD.
The Boot Camp will take place at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Law from 18 to 21 of September 2024.
The program will be delivered in English and it includes the following main topics:
1. EU and its functions
2. Human Rights in the EU Legal System
3. EU Internal Market Law
4. Free Movement of students
5. EU Enlargement policy, EU Integration
6. Youth Policy in the EU
7. Youth in action
The boot camp will include interactive workshops to develop the students’ skills and understanding of using the digital resources of EU Law and Policies, projects’ development and implementation, study visits, and cultural events. The tentative program is provided in this call.Participation in the boot camp will be awarded with a certificate of successful completion provided regular attendance of classes and successful completion of given tasks. It will be an individual decision of the academic institution of the participant if the Certificate is recognized towards obtaining ECTS.
Eligibility Criteria
– The candidate should be enrolled as a student at one of the SEELS members or the Saarland
University on a bachelor or master program/ integrated program (5+0);
– The candidate should have previous basic knowledge of EU Law;
– The candidate should be proficient in the English language.
Scholarship grants. A limited number of selected participants will be provided with scholarship grants that include funding towards their travel costs, provision of accommodation and meals and other costs of the boot camp, as per the instructions provided in the Application Form and the instructions the selected grant holders will receive upon notification of acceptance.
Selection criteria. The following criteria will be applied in the selection of participants and grant holders.
– The candidate should have demonstrated high academic achievements;
– The candidate should have participated in extra-curricular activities;
– The candidate should demonstrate high interest and motivation to participate in the summer school.
Each application shall include:
1. filled-in application form
2. scan of passport
3. scan and translation of academic transcripts (as per instructions provided in the application
form)
4. scan of language/training certificates (as per instructions provided in the application form).
The application must be sent in the English language, in electronic form in a single pdf file, as per the instructions provided in the application form.
The deadline for submission of applications is the 2nd of August 2024 at 23:59 CET.
Notification of selected participants. Only selected participants will be notified of their selection and grant awards where appropriate. Selected participants are expected to confirm their participation. A number of candidates may be short-listed and asked to join the boot camp if a selected participant does not confirm participation or cancels it.
