The Refugee Law and Migration Center at the “Iustinianus Primus” Law Faculty, University Ss. Cyril and Methodius-Skopje ( Правен факултет „Јустинијан Први“ – Скопје ), with the support from the UNHCR Representation in North Macedonia (UNHCR-Skopje), will host the 5th Summer School on International Refugee Law and the Protection of Stateless People from 16-20 September 2024. The focus topic for this year’s edition will be: “International Refugee Law and the Protection of Stateless People: Borders, Nationality, and Perspectives from the Global South”.
Our lecturers and presenters have academic and practical backgrounds from across the world, providing participants with a truly international experience.
This 5-day intensive Summer School is designed to help participants gain fundamental and intermediate knowledge about international refugee law and the protection of stateless people. It aims to foster commitment among participants to advocate for the rights of refugees and stateless persons, with a special focus on perspectives from the Global South.
The course includes introductory and specialized sessions, debates, and optional after-hours sessions. This program is open for participation to all students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, regardless of their previous knowledge of refugee law and statelessness.

The program will be delivered in English in an online mode via morning and afternoon sessions.
The entire summer school will be held online via Zoom.

Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
All participants must have a stable internet connection and a functioning web camera/microphone to facilitate their active participation throughout the sessions. The 2024 edition of the Summer School on International Refugee Law and the Protection of Stateless People is offered free of charge, yet the selection of participants will be made on a competitive basis.
